With card payments on, the nowbooked app takes a contactless card, Apple Pay or Google Pay right on the phone. On iPhone that is Tap to Pay on iPhone; on Android, Tap to Pay.
Turning it on
- 1Connect Stripe first (see Take card payments).
- 2On an iPhone, an account admin opens Tap to Pay on iPhone in the app and accepts Apple's terms on that phone. Apple ties the terms to the phone, so this happens once on each iPhone that will take taps.
- 3On Android, install the app from Google Play (a build from anywhere else can't take taps) and open Tap to Pay.
Taking a payment
- 1Open the appointment and press Complete visit, or open an unpaid invoice.
- 2Press Tap to Pay on iPhone (on Android, Tap to Pay).
- 3Hold the card, phone or watch flat against the top of your phone until it says Approved.
A declined or timed-out tap says so, and no money moves. An approved tap shows on the invoice and in Payments like any other card payment.
Note
The app tells you if a phone can't take taps, or needs a newer iOS first.
